1998 EDS-FFL League Rules

I - Team Composition

Each team shall be comprised of 14 players. There is no regulation to the number of players you may select at any one position (e.g. you could select 16 running backs if you wish). It is recommended that you choose your roster so that it is at least two deep at each position. Don’t forget that each player will have an off week. Positions to draft for include: Quarterback, Running Back, Wide Receiver, Tight End, Kicker, and Defense. Each week you will need to field a team of 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 K, and 1 D.

II - Point Scoring

Points are tallied from those players activated for that week in the following manner:

  • 6 pts for a touchdown
  • 2 pts for a 2-pt conversion
  • 3 pts for a field goal
  • 1 pt for an extra point
  • 4 pts for a safety
  • 2 pts for a defensive interception or fumble recovery
  • 10 pts for a defensive team shutout
  • 3 pts bonus for any of the following:

  • field goal of 50 or more yards
touchdown covering 50 or more yards

  • 2 pts deduction for each QB interception thrown
  • 1 pt deduction for each field goal or PAT missed by a kicker
  • 1 point will be awarded for every 20 yards rushing or receiving for a player. If a player rushes for 38 yards and receives passes for 38 yards, he will earn 1 point for rushing and 1 point for receiving.
  • 1 point will be awarded for every 40 yards passing per player
  • If a player on a franchise on a team scores a touchdown on special teams or defense, the franchise will no longer receive points for that score. For example, if a franchise has Deion Sanders but not the Dallas Cowboys Defense, if Deion returns an interception for a touchdown, the franchise with Deion does not get any points.

III - Roster Moves

All roster moves must be approved by the commissioner. Transaction fees will be $3 for an add/drop combination and trades will be $2 per player.

Each week, you may pick up any player not currently on an FFL roster. If more than one team wants a particular player, the team with the worst record gets the player. To pick up a player, you must inform the Commissioner of your transaction by noon on Wednesday.

No trades can be made after week 6 of the NFL season and add/drops will be suspended after the 10th week of the season.

IV - Regular Season Schedule and Playoffs

The schedule will be determined by how many teams we have in the league this year. The Super Bowl will be on week #16 of the NFL season.

All games will be decided by which team scores the most points. A tie counts as a tie during the regular season. If there is a tie in the playoffs, the better seeded team gets the win. If there is a tie in the Super Bowl, the two teams will play again the following week. If there is another tie, the two teams will split the money.
